[ad#gotomypc]

*WordPress 2.6.2 Released* – WordPress 2.6.2 was released earlier this week to fix a security problem dealing with the mt_rand php function. You really need to upgrade your blog if you allow open registration. The problem is not tied strictly to WordPress rather, this issue affects many other PHP apps as well such as Vbulletin. – http://wordpress.org/development/2008/09/wordpress-262/

*Development Progress * – Noel Is Redesigning the Press This bookmarklet to make live blogging easier as well as going for a more streamlined approach

Take one of wp_list_comments() with threaded comments support is in. To get threaded comments, themes will have to change to make use of wp_list_comments(). You can still use the plugins already available if preferred.

Columns can be hidden on the various management pages. Posts and Pages are done with the others on the way. If you use Categories and not Tags, for example, you can hide the Tags column.

The first cut of Inline Editing is in thanks to Aaron Harp. Posts and pages can be edited inline. Click the “Quick Edit” link to try it out.

*WordPress.com Video Tutorials* – WordPress.com now hosts a series of screencast tutorials which explain everything from creating a gallery to embedding a YouTube video. You’ll find these new videos within the WordPress.com FAQ.- http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2008/09/10/wordpresscom-faq-screencasts/

*Plugin Of The Week* – Progressive License – Progressive license is a plugin that gives authors an opportunity to put Creative Commons or Custom Licenses on their content. It also gives authors the ability to put time frames on the licenses. This give the authors the chance to use a different license depending on how old their post is.- http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/progressive-license/

Budde Podcasting Network Segment Notes – July 4th

Posted on 05 July 2008 by Budde

Happy 4th of July all! I hope you are all enjoying it – although, I am remote from Campgrounds, I still do my Segment, your probably wondering, why? Well, as any podcaster would tell you.. “Stay as consistent as possible” and I will keep consistent with my Segment, as much as possible. Now on with the Segment notes!

Future of TechCast

Thanks to any and all of the supports of the TechCast. We move forward to stage 3 of TechCast. It’ll now be called, The Media Tech Show, thanks to Rob White for coming up with the name. There are still several segment slots open for the show.. Send me an email if you feel that you have a segment that would fit well for the show. It is not a live show, but maybe in the future. We’ll release more details in an announcement episode in the near future.

Budde Podcasting Network Update

Today we don’t have a Development update for you BPN fans! We actually have an update on how things are going to be going with the Budde Podcasting Network podcasts. I am coming to the end of adding all of the episodes there, but stay subscribed to the Current RSS feeds, so that you can get the latest from those. Feedburner Feeds are on there way!

Budde Podcasting Network Notes for Friday – June 27th

Posted on 27 June 2008 by Budde

Segment Name Change

I’ve changed the name of the Segment to the Budde Podcasting Network Segment. Although, we’ll bring in stuff from every show, not every show every week. But, You’ll hear content from each of my shows, except for TWTHS.

Wetpaint Update

Wetpaint was down on Wednesday for a good part of the night – They added new servers to the network because they are nearing the creation of the Millionth wiki. Along with them nearing this – They have a lot of things on the White board for future releases.

Wetpaint Contest ALERT: Wetpaint is having a contest to see if you, yes you! can either create the one millionth wiki or refer the person that creates it. If you create the one millionth wiki you will be getting a Wetpaint “Going Green” package and you will be able to give an organization a “Going Green” package. Along with the Creator, the Refer will receive a “Going Green” package as well. What is this going green package you ask? Read this below to find out:

Wetpaint will offset the approximate annual emissions of the average U.S. home (25,210 lbs. of CO2), the average U.S. vehicle (8,403 lbs. of CO2), and 50,419 lbs.of CO2 of emissions of the organization of choice of the millionth site creator and referrer, if eligible, for a total value of $500 per package. Applying offsets to be provided by Terrapass.

For more information and to read the fine print – visit the One Million Sites wiki on Wetpaint.

BPN Update

As I said last week, we’re 3 weeks behind in development.. I am getting there, not ready for testing quite yet. But, we’ll say by the end of next week we should be good to start the testing on the new design and layout. Stay tuned!

Josh’s Blog Update

UPDATED: I have disabled Disqus comments so that I would be able to enable the Comment License for the Blog and any comments that were posted during the Disqus implementation have been re-added manually by Me.

I have added a new theme to my blog along with a newly designed sidebar. We’ve kept the Disqus comments and I am working on getting two new plugins called Comment License 1.2 and Pingpress 2.1.4. Those should probably be up and running by tomorrow sometime.

TalkShoe Tip of the Week

Are you hosting a TalkShoe show (Dialed in) and your listeners are complaining that they don’t have a stream on their show? This is a streaming failure that TalkShoe is still working on getting fixed ASAP! To resolve this you will need to contact someone on the TalkShoe Support Team and they can Start your stream or restart your stream. You can contact Josh on Skype or via his phone line (585.682.2594).

Josh’s Podcast Changes

Posted on 20 June 2008 by Budde

As you probably know by now, Formerly Tech Nation, is now not live and I am currently not creating new episodes. You will realize, if you stay subscribed, You’ll get Announcements, Segments, Tech/Web News, and more.. But, before we dig to far into those parts of the new show layout —We need to figure about what the new name of the show will be. What do you think?

Suggested names are:

  • The Tech Deck (Chris Riddle)
  • Lets Get Technical (TVSeriesFinaleFan)

What do you think the name should be? Although these changes are happening, this does not mean my other podcasts are going away. TWTHS, Josh’s iLife, Weekly SVU Podcast, Wetpaint Nation and the Daily RSS Podcast are NOT going to be leaving. So, let me know what you think of it and of course I’ll also pick one that I like.

As stated here, the Budde Podcasting Network should be returning mid-July, about July 14 or 15th. Check it out all on the Latest Segment blog post, here on the NMP Network.

This post should have went out last week, but due to me being busy with Finals this week. I just got to it tonight.
