Buying Private Label E-book Resell Rights versus Writing Your Own

buying-private-label-e-book-resell-rights-versus-writing-your-own

In today’s society, there are many individuals who are looking to make money anyway that they can. In many cases, these individuals are looking for opportunities that allow them to work at their own pace or be their own boss. If you are one of those individuals then it is possible that you may have thought about creating and selling e-books.

The popularity of e-books has rapidly increased over the past few years now. Many readers are not only finding it convenient to purchase them, but cheaper. In most cases, e-books are easily to read on the computer, but they can also be printed off. Since more and more consumers are interested in purchasing e-books, there are more individuals who are looking to make money off of them. If you are able to do this, you may find success; however, that success will not come without hard work.

If you have never created an e-book before, it is difficult to understand exactly how much hard work it entails. To be worth the buy, most e-books are at least one hundred pages long; however, some are longer. If you are interested in creating an e-book, it may take months for you to finish the book. In addition to hard work, you must also have writing experience and knowledge on the topic that you are writing about. This knowledge and experience isn’t necessarily necessary; however, it is important to the success of your e-book. It is a fact that customers do not and will not purchase poor quality work.

In addition to writing a quality e-book, you will also have to find ways to sell it. Together, the two could take a large amount of time. For many individuals, this is a major turn off; however, there are alternatives. If you are interested in selling e-books, to make a profit, you do not necessarily have to create your own. Instead you can obtain the private label resell rights to another e-book. Obtaining the resell rights to an e-book will allow you, in many cases, to assume to the work as your own, edit the content, and pocket the money from each sale of the book.

The biggest downside to obtaining the resell rights to an e-book is the amount of money that you will have to spend. Depending on who you do business with, the cost of acquiring private label resell rights may be fairly expensive. Since most freelance writers spend a large amount of time creating their e-books, as previously mentioned, they may want to appropriately be compensated. The cost of resell rights to an e-book may be considered a disadvantage to this unique business opportunity, but it can also be considered an advantage. E-book authors that charge more for their work typically have produced better content; better content is easier to sell.

Whether you make the decision to develop your own e-book or purchase the resell rights to someone else’s, you will still have to find a way to market the e-book to the general public. This, depending on what approach you take, can take time. That is why many individuals prefer purchasing the resell rights to an e-book that has already been created. This allows them to spend more time on marketing, which will in turn create sales.

If you are unsure as to whether or not you should create your own e-book or obtain the resell rights to another, you are not alone. There are a number of other individuals wondering the same thing. Private label resell rights are an amazing business opportunity for some, but not for all. All online business opportunities take time to find success. If you have the financial resources needed to obtain the resell rights to a well written e-book, you are encouraged to give this opportunity a shot. You are not guaranteed results, but you may be surprised with what you find.

If you try obtaining the resell rights to an e-book and the experience is not what you had in mind you can begin to create your own e-books or move onto another business opportunity. Unlike many other business ventures, private label resell rights allow you to get out when you want. After you have paid for the resell rights to an e-book, it is yours to do with. This means that you can stop at anytime and move on to something else, if you desire.

You can find Private Label Rights eBooks at The Personal Publisher and at the Two Beams Membership Site.

Identity Theft Radio: Debut Show for 2009

Welcome to our debut show for 2009! Identity Theft Radio has returned after a several month hiatus. Our new show format will be only for 10 minutes. This will allow us to send the video version of this show to YouTube for syndication immediately following the end of the show each week. We will simulcast on video at http://www.newmediapro.tv and the recordings will be available there as well.

Tonight, we will cover the different types of Identity Theft and a breaking news story that just came about today! Let’s get started…

There are 6 different types of identity theft:
1. Credit/Financial
2. Medical
3. Driver’s License
4. Social Security Number
5. Character
6. Synthetic

We will go into more details over the next few weeks as we delve further into each type of identity theft.

First though, a breaking news story that hit the social media world today. Twitter, the popular microblogging platform, had a phishing scam hit many of it’s users today in the form of a direct message. If you aren’t familiar with Twitter, it allows you to send friends and followers an “instant message” in under 140 characters.

Chris Pirillo, best known from uStream.TV, reported this phishing scam via Twitter to alert his followers that this was happening. Many of his followers resent this message out to their followers, thus spreading the message very quickly to avert potential identity theft from happening.

Many received a direct message from one of their twitter followers:

hey! check out this funny blog about you… jannawalitax . blogspot . com

DO NOT VISIT the URL in question. It will redirect you immediately to a suspicious domain: twitter . access-logins . com - notice the subdomain?

This is NOT the Twitter login page, even though it looks like the real Twitter page, however the domain name gives way to believe it is a phishing site. Suggestion: do NOT log in to your Twitter account through any site other than Twitter.com. That may go without saying, but consider how many third-party Twitter services you use? Seems it’s about time for some kind of verification / validation for applications using the Twitter API - so you can be sure you’re passing your credentials to the right people. Many people have setup phony Twitter services sites promising all kinds of stats and status and will ask you for your username and password for your Twitter account.

This phishing domain appears to be registered in China:

Organization : zhang xiaohu
Name : zhang xiaohu
Address : changningzhonghuainanlu192hao
City : changning
Province/State : Hunan
Country : CN
Postal Code : 421500

Please, tell your Twitter followers to NOT VISIT or LOGIN THROUGH that site! Watch out for these direct messages. If you did happen to visit one of the offending URLs, you should be safe so long as you didn’t try to log into your Twitter account there.

Phishing is where someone is attempting to gain your information by using a phony site that looks like a real site, for example, your bank’s main site. Always look at the domain address that will show up in your address bar and make sure it is the actual site that you are visiting. Never take ANY e-mail at face value and when in doubt, DON’T click on ANY links without checking out the source of the message first!

Podcaster Training: Using Audio on your Web Site or Blog

Happy New Year everyone and welcome to our first episode of 2009! Last week, we wrapped up our Phases of Podcasting Series and will begin the new year with some individual training and will prepare for our next big series, Bridging The Gap Between Mediums. This new series will take us through the three big mediums, Audio, Video and Blogging, and will show you how to convert your listeners to readers, readers to viewers, well, you get the idea I think. That series will begin soon, so I will keep you posted!

Tonight, we will talk about using audio on your web sites or blogs. By using audio, I am talking about embedding a flash audio or an MP3 by using a special flash converter program or by using a special plugin for Wordpress, such as the BluBrry Player, that will allow you to let your visitors or readers play back your audio easily.

To begin with, we will discuss using flash on your web site or blog. Using flash will not only enable you to embed your audio, but it will allow you to easily stream large audio files without the visitor or reader having to wait a long time for the file to download before they can begin to enjoy it.

How do you get an audio file into a flash format? The best way to do this, is to use a flash converter program, such as Web Audio Plus, that will take a .WAV or .MP3 formatted audio file and with a couple of clicks of the mouse, you can choose the player style and then the program not only gives you the embed code, but will encode the flash file for you to upload to your site and let your visitors start using it right away!

Now, if you are using Wordpress, the self hosted version, then you can add a plugin for podcasting such as the one from BluBrry, that will enable you to upload your MP3 file or actually just add the http line to the player and it will stream it from another source. For example, when I want to add the audio file to my show notes, I use the BluBrry Player and add the http line that directs the player to stream from the Talkshoe download location. In this way, I don’t have to worry about uploading the file to another location or worry about hosting an additional file somewhere else, as the BluBrry plugin will automatically use the http line that I entered to pull this file from whatever location I have entered into it. The file must be in an MP3 format for the player to work correctly in this fashion. Some audio plugins will also stream a video in the same fashion, so check with your plugin that you are using before attempting this to insure that it will work properly for you.

Now, if you are using Talkshoe to record your MP3 file and you want to use it in a flash format, you will need to download the MP3 file to your PC and then convert it and then upload the new flash files and install the embed code to your site or blog. Otherwise, you will need a microphone hooked up to your PC’s soundcard and you will need something like the free audio editor called Audacity so that you can record your files and then export them to either a WAV or MP3 format. If you use the MP3 format, then you can easily upload this file to your site and use the Wordpress plugin to stream it or with the WAV or MP3 format, you can convert either of these to flash using the Web Audio Plus software. I might mention that this software is for PC’s only, so sorry Mac people! I’m sure that there is a similar program available for Mac to convert audio to a flash format. Again, since I’m not a Mac, I don’t have any suggestions for this but I’m sure someone knows of one somewhere!

Another way to use audio on your site or blog is to record a short 1 or 2 minute greeting that you can embed near the top of your main page. Put a note there for your visitors or readers to press play in order to hear a special message from you. This will give your site or blog a personal touch. Don’t make this audio play automatically however, as this will tend to annoy repeat visitors and may even drive them away! This type of audio should always be voluntary and not forced onto your visitors or readers.

Embedding an audio file doesn’t necessarily mean it has to be voice only. If you have a site that features music from Indie Artists or even your own music, you can feature this kind of music files in the same way as the audio files. Just make sure that the music you are featuring is either your own, podsafe music or you have the proper licensing to play the music. In this way, you will keep yourself from being fined for playing licensed music.

Wrapping up, adding audio files to your web site or blog doesn’t have to be a big chore or take a rocket scientist to make it work. With the plugins available for Wordpress nowadays, and the flash technology for converting audio files easily, there is no reason why you can’t do it too!

If you have a PC and are interested in obtaining Web Audio Plus, you can pickup your own copy at The Personal Publisher!

Plugin Of The Week – Widget Context – Widget Context is a plugin that allows you to assign widgets to appear on certain parts of your blog. For example, you can configure the plugin to only display the recent comments widget to show up on your homepage and nowhere else. Or, you can assign a widget to display in multiple places but keep it from displaying in others. In short, this plugin provides an entirely new level of customization options for your blog. Look for functionality similar to what this plugin provides to be coming down the pike in a future version of WordPress. - http://konstruktors.com/blog/wordpress/842-wordpress-gpl-widget-context-plugin/#more-842

This is a Reader Poll to get your opinion! Please take a minute to respond to this poll in the comments so that I can get an idea of what you are thinking.

The subject has arisen recently about the length a podcast should be. My question to you is, how long of a podcast will you, yourself, listen to. How long is too long or too short? What length of time do you think is appropriate for a podcast?

Thank you for participating in this poll. If you feel some podcasts deserve longer or shorter lengths, please let me know why you feel certain niches should be longer or shorter in length.

I will post the results of this poll after everyone has had a chance to respond. Thank you again!

First, let me start by saying that I hope that everyone had a Merry Christmas yesterday! I had a chance to spend some time with most all of my grandkids and had a blast watching them open their gifts. I especially had fun watching my wife learn how to use the new digital camera I got her. I don’t want to say she is technically challenged…I’ll just leave it at that!

And with that said, over the past few weeks, we have been cruising through the Phases of Podcasting. We’ve learned about the history, the basics, going live, prepping for the show, the after show, and getting sponsors and monetizing your podcasts. Tonight, we dive into the final phase of this series of training, Phase 6: Going To The Next Level. Many of you are already asking yourselves, so what is the next level anyway? The next level for many podcasters is video.

There are a number of formats for video in today’s New Media World, including live streaming, video sharing and screencasting, just to name a few. Going video for some, means live streaming. Taking your podcast, possibly one that you are already producing live audio for, and adding a new dimension to it…live video. Now, I have been producing a live video stream for Podcaster Training for almost a year now. I have missed a week here or there, mainly due to technical glitches on the live streaming service, however, for the most part, I’ve been there.

Before we go any further, let’s look at live streaming services. There are a few live streaming services available, such as uStream, Stickam and Justin.TV, again, just to name a few. Tonight, we will look at uStream.TV and go over some of the basics for producing a live streaming video.

Obviously, before you can produce a video, a very important piece of equipment you need is a camera. A webcam, digital video camera or sometimes even a digital camera can be used for this purpose. Some home video cameras have the capability to be hooked up to your PC nowadays and they can be used for this purpose as well. If you already have a camera, check it’s capabilities first to insure that it can be used.

Now, once the camera is in place, you can visit http://www.ustream.tv and signup for a free account. Once you have logged into your account, you will want to setup your profile and show page and this will prepare you for going live soon. I won’t take the time tonight to go through these steps with you. They are fairly self explanatory and if you have questions, just let me know.

Once your show page is setup, you can go live at any time by clicking on the Broadcast Now button, found at the top of the page. This will open a second window, commonly called a Broadcast Window, and the first prompt you should get is to allow or deny access to your camera and sound source. Oh, you will want a microphone hooked up to your PC at this point or else no audio will be heard by your viewers. Click allow and you will be presented with a preview image showing you what your camera is seeing. No preview image? You may need to select your camera from the drop down options for your video. Same goes for sound, if you have multiple sources to choose from.

Next, you have two buttons on the right hand side of the Broadcast Window, Broadcast and Record. Click Broadcast to begin sending your images to uStream for others to see and when you are ready, click Record to save your live video. Once completed, you can click on Stop Record and you will be prompted to save your movie file.

Ok, that’s all there is to live streaming. Let’s move on to video sharing. The most popular video sharing site right now is YouTube. Most everyone has heard of YouTube, but many will not have an idea of how to post a video. This will be an entire different lesson altogether as it requires some specific software and a little know how to insure your video is posted properly.

The last type of video for tonight is called Screencasting. This is a method used for creating tutorials and making them into a video for others to learn by. Again, this will be an entire lesson on it’s own. TechSmith makes a piece of software called Camtasia which allows you to record your screen movements, add transitions, credits, etc. and then create your screencast into the most widely used format technology called Flash. uStream, Stickam, YouTube and most video sharing and streaming sites will use this technology as Flash is a smaller, more compact way of streaming video across the Internet.

I know I’ve skimmed over a lot of this training, however, with video streaming, a lot is just either by doing or by having someone step you through it. Unfortunately, we don’t have that kind of time on this show, unless I devote an entire lesson on just that. Not saying that can’t happen!

Now, when you plan to stream live video, you want to make sure that your viewers will be able to find you easily. Let’s go back to uStream for a minute. With uStream, like most services, gives you an embed code that allows you to show your live video on your web site or blog, while you are streaming live! There is even an embed code for the chatroom and you can setup a separate page for your live streaming. For example, I have setup a separate domain name, newmediapro.tv, along with a separate site so that I can include my advertising, chatroom, and embed codes for Twitter, Stickam and uStream, all on one page. This way, no matter which service I’m on, I can direct viewers to the one site. Makes life easier for everyone that way.

Alternately, for your blog, you could setup a page marked LIVE and put your embed codes there. Same result and you have a way that your viewers can easily view and read your blog too!

I went the extra mile for the .TV domain name. They are a little salty for some, at $19.99 a year, but I felt it was worth it for the branding. Keep in mind that if you are on Blogger or Wordpress.com, you may not be able to embed the video and chatroom codes. Since I run the self hosted Wordpress, I can do this with my blog. So this is where I’m coming from, in case you’re wondering why I might be telling you to try something that you may not be able to do.

The same applies for video sharing sites like YouTube. You can upload a video or screencast and then get the embed code and show it on your blog or web site. This way, when you’ve got a tutorial video or screencast that you want everyone to see, it’s easy to show it off quickly!

Ok, one last item to cover on this topic tonight. If you want to add a little flare to your live presentation, there are some software packages available for PC users called SuperWebCam and ManyCam, that will allow you to put graphics on the screen, scroll messages, show your desktop and more. Mac users have some options as well, such as CamTwist, that does the same as the PC software packages.

Adding flare to your video will help you to present a more professional production. Even if you have a live video show about nothing in particular, this flare will help you to liven up your videos and maybe attract some more viewers.

This concludes our series of The Phases of Podcasting. Next week, we will be talking about adding audio to your web site or blog. There is one exciting note here. Thanks to a suggestion by Jeff Chandler, our resident Wordpress Segment Host, I will be putting together a series about combining the three main mediums, Blogging, Podcasting and Video. Bridging the gap to bring your listeners to your blog, your readers to your podcasts and live videos and vice versa. It should be a really great series to produce. I’ll tell you more as the time draws near. I can tell you this much, it won’t be until next year now!! :)

Review: Talkshoe vs. BlogTalkRadio

December 20, 2008 by Rob White

review-talkshoe-vs-blogtalkradio

Today, I received an e-mail asking why I chose Talkshoe over BlogTalkRadio for my live podcasting. So, before I responded back to this individual, I decided to check out BlogTalkRadio again so that I could give a decent response to this inquiry.

As most of you already know, I started with Talkshoe more than two years ago. For those not in the know, Talkshoe is a free service that offers live, interactive podcasting, hosting and chat rooms for hosts that want to produce a live podcast with a live audience. BlogTalkRadio does this as well, but more on them later.

When I started podcasting live with Talkshoe, they were a fledgling company and were still having some teething pains with some of the technology. A lot can be overlooked, especially when the service is free of charge! Over time, Talkshoe has grown out of most of their technical issues and have added a lot of great features over the past couple of years.

BlogTalkRadio offers many of the features that Talkshoe offers, however, they have some restrictions that some hosts, myself included, just can’t deal with.

Here is a list of Pros and Cons of both services as I see them. This list is strictly my observations and do not represent the opinions of these individual services.

Talkshoe

1. Free Account Signup for member and host
2. Free hosting and storage of MP3 recordings
3. Unlimited storage for archives of MP3 recordings
4. Up to 5 Hour limit on recording of podcasts
5. No restrictions on time slots to host podcasts
6. Up to 250 people on the chatroom and phone bridge
7. Dedicated phone number and show ID for calling into show
8. No restrictions on advertising placed within your podcasts
9. 15 minute “pre-show” window before starting your podcast
10. Manual or automatic recording option for your podcast
11. Ability to mute chatroom and phone bridge callers
12. Ability to manually start and terminate podcasts
13. Ability to use SIP/VOIP or Phone to call into show
14. No ad revenue sharing for the hosts
15. Ability to schedule future shows for any day or time
16. Easy to use interface on show page
17. Ability to continue streaming before and after recording
18. Recordings available within 30 minutes of termination of show
19. Ability to not use a PC to host a live podcast

BlogTalkRadio

1. Free account signup for member and host
2. Free hosting and storage of MP3 recordings
3. Unlimited storage for archive of MP3 recordings
4. Up to 2 hours of podcast recording
5. No apparent restrictions now on time slots to host podcasts
6. Up to 5 people on the phone bridge at one time
7. Not sure on limit of chat room visitors
8. Dedicated phone number and ID for calling into show
9. Certain restrictions for advertising on your podcasts
10. Voluntary Ad Revenue Sharing program
11. No “pre-show” window for starting your live podcast
12. Automatic start and terminate of your podcast recording
13. Ability to continue streaming after recording is completed
14. Ability to mute chatroom and phone bridge callers
15. No ability to manual start or terminate podcast recordings
16. Ability to use VOIP or phone to call in, no SIP support
17. No ability to go over preset time limit for show recording
18. Ability to schedule future shows up to 30 days in advance
19. Not a user friendly interface for scheduling or show maintenance
20. Unsure as to how long before recordings show up after termination
21. Ability to not use a PC to host a podcast, but not recommended

This list is not complete. Only from the observation point of a show host. As you can see, BlogTalkRadio has more restrictions in place that makes it more difficult for an individual to host a show. BlogTalkRadio has some features that Talkshoe doesn’t, such as the ad revenue sharing program. Talkshoe, at one time, had such a program. However, with no advertising restrictions, Talkshoe allows the host to producing their own advertising dollars.

My response to the individual about why I chose Talkshoe over BlogTalkRadio was honest. In my opinion, Talkshoe still has the better service going between the two. Granted, Talkshoe has it’s share of technical issues still, and the test podcast I ran on BlogTalkRadio today, went smooth and the recording was clear and usable. Again, there will always be differences, but for the money (remember, Talkshoe is still a free service) I will be staying with Talkshoe for the time being and will hope that the technical issues get ironed out soon.

I announced earlier that Identity Theft Radio will be returning coming in January, so in celebration of it’s return, I am offering a brand new eBook, hot off the presses, at a discounted price to all of my loyal listeners and readers.

Here is an excerpt from the book, Credit Repair Strategies Revealed:
Credit Repair is defined as a method of disputing or rectifying discrepancies presented on credit bureau reports in order to obtain the highest and most exact ratings for consumers.

Among the most crucial matters to think back is regarding credit problems and this also means you’re not the only one who is suffering from bad credit. On the other side, there are millions of honorable, hard-working people from all around the country who are presently experiencing or have suffered troubles with their credit too. However, your awareness of the importance of having good credit has put you one step closer to actually achieving a good credit rating and improving your quality of living.

Even though your credit rating may seem like an intangible asset, it is one of the most valuable and important assets that you have. Without a good credit rating your financial, occupational, and personal goals are at risk of being severely limited. In order to obtain the privilege of using a credit card, your credit rating is checked.

If a company determines your credit to be unsatisfactory, you will be denied. From the moment you are denied, your quality of living is impeded. If you can’t get a credit card, you can’t rent a car, order tickets, or even rent a video. Because your credit rating was determined to be unsatisfactory, most companies will not let you use their money.

Today more than ever, many businesses perform routine background checks during the hiring process. Once again, if your credit rating reveals something of concern to them, you can be turned away for employment. Since maintaining a good credit rating is important in today’s society, a poor credit rating can have a negative snowball effect toward your personal goals.

Good, string credit allows you to live with financial security and enables you to purchase items without depleting your life savings.
Repairing your credit can seem like a monumental task; however, it can also be as easy as wiring a letter or making a phone call. Your decision to repair your credit rating will benefit you for the rest of your life.

The more time you invest now toward strengthening your credit rating, the better your quality of life will be. This guide is intended to support and help individuals and families find the answers to the most commonly asked questions of credit repair, as well as informing them of the dangers that lurk the marketplace.

After reading our guide, you will have the basic knowledge to getting out of debt, as well as information that will guide you to resources that will help you repairing your credit, get loans, and so forth.

This is a must read guide for anyone that has bad credit, no credit, or trying to establish a good credit.
