Ok, a brief break from New Media to show you a video I shot from US Cellular Field in Chicago, Illinois for the Great Lakes Scholars Program. My grandson, Malik Gayler, was among a lot of other student across the Country that were nominated for this program. Once they win the nomination, they get to partake in a ceremony like what you will see on the video. The video is shot from the first person perspective and my grandson was fortunate to be the first in line at the parade! We even had an added bonus when Ken Griffey, Jr. walked across our path on his way to the dugout. Needless to say, the kids were honored by thousands of cheering baseball fans as the announcer read off some names and told about the program. You can here some of this on the audio, but not real clear. Enjoy!
Hope you all had a great week, I certainly have, along with having a busy one.. Read the post below and/or listen to the attached clip and you can find out what I have been doing…

More than a year ago, I decided to start monetizing my podcasts through advertising. After looking around for my own sponsors, I discovered BluBrry (Blueberry without the e’s), a Rawvoice Company that offers even the smallest podcasters an opportunity to have quality advertising with brand name advertisers on their podcasts. Rawvoice pays the podcaster depending on the number of downloads of a particular podcast.
After looking over their program, I applied and followed the simple task of filling out the ad survey and keeping it updated at regular intervals. I was accepted by Rawvoice and was sent my first ad deals. The host read ads take about 45 seconds to a minute to read and the code to insert on your site is easy to install.
For some of the best podcasting advertising, BluBrry gets my highest recommendation! In fact, I just renewed my ad deal once again and will continue to do so. Visit http://www.blubrry.com for more details.
I’ve changed the name of the Segment to the Budde Podcasting Network Segment. Although, we’ll bring in stuff from every show, not every show every week. But, You’ll hear content from each of my shows, except for TWTHS.
Wetpaint Update
Wetpaint was down on Wednesday for a good part of the night - They added new servers to the network because they are nearing the creation of the Millionth wiki. Along with them nearing this - They have a lot of things on the White board for future releases.
Wetpaint Contest ALERT: Wetpaint is having a contest to see if you, yes you! can either create the one millionth wiki or refer the person that creates it. If you create the one millionth wiki you will be getting a Wetpaint “Going Green” package and you will be able to give an organization a “Going Green” package. Along with the Creator, the Refer will receive a “Going Green” package as well. What is this going green package you ask? Read this below to find out:
Wetpaint will offset the approximate annual emissions of the average U.S. home (25,210 lbs. of CO2), the average U.S. vehicle (8,403 lbs. of CO2), and 50,419 lbs.of CO2 of emissions of the organization of choice of the millionth site creator and referrer, if eligible, for a total value of $500 per package. Applying offsets to be provided by Terrapass.
As I said last week, we’re 3 weeks behind in development.. I am getting there, not ready for testing quite yet. But, we’ll say by the end of next week we should be good to start the testing on the new design and layout. Stay tuned!
Josh’s Blog Update
UPDATED: I have disabled Disqus comments so that I would be able to enable the Comment License for the Blog and any comments that were posted during the Disqus implementation have been re-added manually by Me.
I have added a new theme to my blog along with a newly designed sidebar. We’ve kept the Disqus comments and I am working on getting two new plugins called Comment License 1.2 and Pingpress 2.1.4. Those should probably be up and running by tomorrow sometime.
TalkShoe Tip of the Week
Are you hosting a TalkShoe show (Dialed in) and your listeners are complaining that they don’t have a stream on their show? This is a streaming failure that TalkShoe is still working on getting fixed ASAP! To resolve this you will need to contact someone on the TalkShoe Support Team and they can Start your stream or restart your stream. You can contact Josh on Skype or via his phone line (585.682.2594).
As you probably know by now, Formerly Tech Nation, is now not live and I am currently not creating new episodes. You will realize, if you stay subscribed, You’ll get Announcements, Segments, Tech/Web News, and more.. But, before we dig to far into those parts of the new show layout —We need to figure about what the new name of the show will be. What do you think?
Suggested names are:
The Tech Deck (Chris Riddle)
Lets Get Technical (TVSeriesFinaleFan)
What do you think the name should be? Although these changes are happening, this does not mean my other podcasts are going away. TWTHS, Josh’s iLife, Weekly SVU Podcast, Wetpaint Nation and the Daily RSS Podcast are NOT going to be leaving. So, let me know what you think of it and of course I’ll also pick one that I like.
As stated here, the Budde Podcasting Network should be returning mid-July, about July 14 or 15th. Check it out all on the Latest Segment blog post, here on the NMP Network.
This post should have went out last week, but due to me being busy with Finals this week. I just got to it tonight.
Yesterday, Thursday, June 19, 2008 I interviewed Tracy from Wetpaint about her role as an Interaction Designer for Wetpaint. It was a great turn out and I’d like to thank the 13 people that had joined the Chat and the two people that called in.
Thanks to Tracy for volunteering to be on the show for Wetpaint’s Second Birthday. Thanks for answering all of the questions that I had asked. Also, It was great that you explained the difference from Wetpaint’s UI and what sets it apart from Wikia or PBWiki’s UI.
Also on Podcaster Training, I had announced that the Development Schedule for the Budde Podcasting Network is two weeks behind. I am sorry about this and I plan on Bringing the Network back online by July 14 or 15th.
Attached is the Audio file of Episode 13 from Wetpaint Nation, which was recorded live yesterday on TalkShoe ID: 10200.
If you have any questions, comments or anything regarding Wetpaint, Podcrasher Note or just TalkShoe in general.. Shoot me an email to podcast [at] buddes [dot] net.
*Using BuddyPress With WordPress* – The dailyseo blog published an article recently which goes into detail on how to use BuddyPress with WordPressMU to turn WordPressMU into a social network. Buddypress is a series of plugins which provides personal blogs, friends, private messaging, picture albumns, friends, groups and extended profile features to a standard install of WordPress MU- http://www.dailyseoblog.com/2008/06/create-a-complete-cms-on-wordpress-using-buddypress/
*Tshirt Designs* – Charles Stricklin, the host of the WordPress podcast is putting the call out to everyone to help him choose a WordPress saying that he will wear on his t shirt. So far, there are at least 7 sayings to choose from with others being mentioned in the comments. My favorite one thus far is, “Friends don’t let friends use Movable Type. However, Stephen Rose has a good sounding entry with, “WordPress. One Word. Many Voices.” - http://charlesstricklin.com/2008/05/30/t-shirt-designs/
*All In One SEO Plugin Dies* – According to the plugin author and the plugin directory page for the very popular all in one seo plugin, the plugin will no longer be supported from here on out. The plugin currently works with WordPress 2.5.1 but may not work with future versions of WordPress. - http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/all-in-one-seo-pack/
*Plugin of the week* – PingPress.fm WordPress Plugin – This plugin allows you to spread your wonderful blog to 10+ social networks via ping.fm Ping.fm is a service in which you can ping multiple services through one account instead of having to manually update each service one by one.
If you would like to know more about what is going on within the world of WordPress, visit www.weblogtoolscollection.com or tune in to my weekly podcast called WordPress Weekly which comes on immediately following this talkcast.
If you’ve listened to the last episode of Podcaster Training, you would know that I (Josh Budde) have been working on getting a feed ready to go public for keeping TalkShoe Hosts communicating about Podcrashers, We’ve launched and the feed is available via FeedBurner. A website completely dedicated to Podcrasher Note will be released soon after the v4 release of Budde Podcasting Network.
——————-
I will be doing a segment on Podcaster Training about Wetpaint next Friday (June 20th) and Next Thursday (June 19th) on Wetpaint Nation (Call Id: 10200) I’ll be interviewing Wetpaint’s UI (User Interface) Developer. I have a few questions for her, so far. If you have a question that I would like to ask her, drop the question in the Comments section or email me at podcast [at] buddes [dot] net. In next week’s segment notes, I’ll add the Interview MP3 to the Blog Post. It will be available for download separately from the episode, along with being in the episode.
As you all know, if you listened to the episode of Podcaster Training last night - I had to cancel Wetpaint Nation and that the Budde Podcasting Center is undergoing maintenance for a bit.
Any questions can be posted in the comments or emailed to podcast [at] buddes [dot] net.
