A newsletter is informative to readers, and fun for the editor to write. Find a subject that motivates you to have a newsletter about. Your excitement for the topic will come through. Don’t be afraid to expose yourself in it.
You’ll learn from the feed-back, and have a better newsletter.
A newsletter is time consuming. Will you publish it every two weeks, month? Allow yourself enough time to gather information, and have it ready within the same time period.
Make notes of topics you want to include in an issue. A picture of
yourself, or of what the newsletter’s theme is should be included.
If it entails business related information highlight the fact by adding graphics. People in an office, office cabinets, files, and/or folders would be appropriate.
A writing newsletter would show-case images of books, pencils, a coffee cup, etc.
I suggest that you stir in time that you’ll need for personal reasons when deciding how often to publish the newsletter. I’m referring to a crisis at home, illness, your daily routine, and the like. Perhaps, you’d rather publish the newsletter every month, not weekly.
A newsletter should begin with a comment, word, thought, or
insightful share with readers. It is your section. Share something
about yourself.
Pick topics out of life to chat about. Did a stranger walk-up to you,
thought you were someone else? Your furry friend, pet, helped you in some way. Were you published somewhere? You received a surprise?
Make sure the newsletter is full of theme material. Give tips, new buzz on that industry, certain technology help, or explain a niche.
Feature contests from others, and have your own.
Tackle a debate. How many people hit snooze, four times, before getting up? Most likely, 89% percent of the population. What do you think?
Dress the newsletter up or down as you see fit. Have fun with it, include anything you like.
Writing a newsletter opens up a new world to you. Explore an area that’s exciting for you, and interesting to others.
