WPTavern Design Almost Done

Posted on 11 January 2009 by Jeffro

Wow, been a little while since my last post. Here are a couple of updates for you.

Last week, I sent in my letter to relinquish myself from my duties at BloggerTalks, Problogger, BloggingTips, and other duties to give myself more time for WPTavern.

I thought I came across an awesome theme to use for WPTavern. It’s called Arthemia Premium.. Now, the theme still looks great but it was a pain in the ass for me to mess around with. I thought about using the featured post section from that theme and transferring it to a new theme but it’s deeply integrated within Arthemia and so, I wasted $70.00. However, perhaps at some point down the road, I’ll redesign WPTavern.com again and that will be the design I go with.

So what does WPTavern look like right now? Have a look.

wptavern

Yes, the WPTavern theme should look familiar as it’s a hacked version of the theme I use on this site. As it stands, I really like a lot of the things as well as the layout of this theme on Jeffro2pt0. I don’t want to hack up another theme to add these features so I decided to just hack up a version I could use for WPTavern. I did add two more widget spots near the footer that I plan on using and I also added the 5 featured posts block along with post thumbnails to give it just a little bit of a magazine look.

Right now, this should hold me over until I gain some momentum and get things going. I’ll worry about a proper/unique identity once the time presents itself.

With the majority of the design out of the way, my focus is now on plugins and the forum. I’m still on track to open the site up for public beta on February 1st. Until then, the site will open with very little content.

Because of this, if anyone is open to writing a guest post to be part of the launch of the site, please send the HTML version of the post to my email address or through the contact form on this site. If you have images that go with the post, label them accordingly in the HTML file and I’ll add them in on my end. Don’t forget to email me the images as well.

I’ve been working like mad between the two podcasts I produce and getting things set for WPTavern. However, It’s been exciting and my head is continuously overflowing with ideas for the site once it launches. Stay tuned for more info as I get time to publish it.

How would you do this?

Posted on 11 January 2009 by Dr. Robert White

[ad#twobeams]
Here’s the scenario:
You have a blog, a podcast and a live video stream, all produced by you and you have three separate audiences, one audience for each medium. You want to get your blog readers to come to your podcast, you also want your podcast listeners to come to your live video stream, and likewise, you want your listeners and live viewers to come to your blog.

How would you make this happen?

Why am I asking this, you might inquire? I have been asked to do a series on Podcaster Training pertaining to just that scenario I outlined above. With more and more people getting into New Media in different ways, getting traffic to your blog, podcast and live video stream is getting more difficult as these are all perceived as being separate, but equal functions. However, the New Media Producer doesn’t see it that way and they want to combine their audiences and get them involved into the various aspects of what they are producing.

I have began to write this series and then I got to thinking that I could use some different input as most of the listeners of my show have proven to be a great source for ideas like this. Also proving that “two heads are better than one” thus making for a more informed decision.

I would like everyone that wants to give their input, to do so in the comments section here. I will then take these comments and add them to the training. And don’t worry, there will be credit given to the people that contribute to this! Also, for contributing, I will give you a special gift, but I’m not going to say what just yet until I start seeing the results! Just another incentive, I guess, to give me your thoughts!

I would like to start this series within the next few weeks, but won’t start until I have all the input I need from everyone. Please take a minute to give me your thoughts! Thanks in advance!

Private Label Resell Rights: Choosing a Product

Posted on 11 January 2009 by Dr. Robert White

[ad#twobeams]
Millions of Americans are currently trying to make money online. Unfortunately, many of them are not making money, but loosing it. If you are interested in taking part an online business opportunity, no matter what that opportunity be, it is advised that you know exactly what you are getting into before agreeing to invest your hard earned money or sign a contract. It is one of the few ways that you can protect yourself.

When searching for an online business opportunity, there are many individuals who come across something that is known as private label resell rights. Private label resell rights are offered on a number of different products. With the internet, these products most commonly include software programs or e-books. Private label resell rights are when the product creator does not have the time, money, or experienced needed to sell their finished product. A product creator tends to lose money each day that their product does not sell; therefore, they look for assistance. This is where you could come in, if you were looking to make money online.

To get their product on the market, while making money at the same time, many product creators, such as e-book authors or software designers, sell the resell rights to their product. The amount of money they are selling their rights for will vary; however, most resell rights do not cost more than a few hundred dollars. If you are able to come up with this money, you could not only be helping the product creator make money, but yourself as well. Since you legally obtained the resell rights to the product in question, you can start to profit from each sale that you make. Unfortunately, it is not always as easy as it sounds.

When it comes to purchasing the resell rights to a private label product, such as an e-book or software program, there are many buyers who make a costly mistake. That mistake is not picking a product that sells. To make money, you cannot just select a random private label product, instead you must research the market and learn what customers want and need to buy. Doing so will not only allow you to obtain the resell rights to a product that will sell, but one that will be in high demand.

The best way to learn about products, topics, or issues that are currently popular on the internet is to use the internet. There is a great 2 hour audio program on the subject of private lable resale rights at www.plrtips.com, the best part is it is free. Also you will want to read the news on a daily basis. You may also want to actively participate in online discussions. You can easily do this by joining a number of different message boards. With online message boards, many internet users post important questions and product requests. If you are able to find a product, such as a specific software program or e-book, that is being requested on a large scale, that product may be able to turn you a profit.

In addition to using the internet, you are advised to always keep your eyes and ears open. You never know what or where you will learn something new. Reading the news and participating in online message board discussions are just a few of the many ways that you can go about researching the need for a particular product. This research may seem time consuming; however, it is necessarily, that is unless what don’t mind losing the money you invested.

Identity Theft Radio: Credit/Financial ID Theft

Posted on 11 January 2009 by Dr. Robert White

[ad#lifelock]
Welcome to our 2nd episode of the new year! Tonight, we will discuss the first type of ID Theft called Credit and Financial Identity Theft.

What is Credit and Financial Identity Theft?

When an ID Thief steals your bank account information, credit card information, savings account information or other types of financial data, they can not only access your existing accounts, however, they can also use this information to open new accounts in your name.

In most cases, an ID Thief will only access existing accounts and drain your accounts, thus stealing your money. At the same time, they will also sign up for credit cards, usually lots of them, and will use these new cards to further steal money from you. Remember, all of these credit cards are in your name with your address and information. The bills go to you!

What can you do to prevent this type of identity theft?

Not much, except to monitor your credit reports and financial statements for unauthorized withdrawals, etc. The first thing you need to do to begin your road to being safe with your accounts, is to check your credit reports. Not just one, but from all three of the major credit reporting agencies.

You are allowed by law, to get a free copy of your credit reports from all three agencies once a year! Visit http://www.annualcreditreport.com to pickup your free copies.

By the way, stay away from places that claim to give you free credit reports. They only do this when you purchase a monthly monitoring service from them! We’ll talk more about these types of services in future episodes.

That’s it for tonight! Next week, we will discuss the next type of Identity Theft, Social Security Number Identity Theft.
