Making Money with Articles: Picking Articles for Your Niche Site

Posted on 28 December 2008 by Dr. Robert White

[ad#camstudioim]
Pick the articles for your niche sites very carefully to ensure that you are able to successfully get traffic and gain profit from these sites. If you are going to try and utilize free website content articles, then it may be difficult for you to find ones that have your exact keywords, so you may have to either make revisions to the articles (which may not be allowed on some free articles) or base your keywords on the articles that you find (which could leave you with very competitive keywords that would take a lot of time or money to attain a high ranking for). If you are going to buy content, make sure that you let the writer know what your niche keywords are and what your specific your preferred keyword density and placement are. Remember, the wrong articles can leave you with little traffic and very low search engine rankings if they do not fit in properly with either your niche or with keywords that are easy to attain high rankings for.

NewMediaPro.TV Live Page Updated

Posted on 28 December 2008 by Dr. Robert White

[ad#camstudioim]
With a new year just around the corner, I felt it was time to do some updating to my Live Page at http://www.newmediapro.tv and bring it up to date.

Since I am using uStream for most of my live video streaming, I have chosen to make that the only video feed that shows up now. Also, I have removed a lot of the clutter, such as banner ads and the like to make for a cleaner looking page.

Checking the stats for this domain, I am getting quite a few hits here and so I want to make it a more pleasant experience for those visitors to this site.

I have also added the Talkshoe audio badge to this page for those who want to listen in on the audio only portion of the shows.

Podango Might Fold Is Talkshoe Next?

Posted on 28 December 2008 by Jeffro

Podango LogoPodcastingNews.com has has a report out regarding the recent announcement made my Podango regarding their future. Based on the announcement, things don’t look very good for the company:

We at Podango believe that you, our customers, are our most valuable asset. Given this belief, we have always done our best to be honest and forthright in our dealings with you. The current uncertainties of the financial market has affected many of us in this nation. As of this morning, Podango is no longer immune to it’s effects. Our ability to continue operations past the end of this year (2008) is in question. We do not want any of you, or any of your shows to be negatively affected by this uncertainty and so we are encouraging you to begin taking all necessary steps to secure your data or begin moving to another hosting provider. On Monday we will have a more definitive direction. As of today, the last day to move or secure your data is December 31st. RSS feeds will need to be redirected by this date as well. It is our hope that the events of the next few days will allow us to continue providing you a service based upon a subscription fee. Again, we will know more on Monday and you will be notified of any changes to the above plan as soon as we are made aware of them.

We will have a link in the My Podango section of the Podcasters login page by Monday which will allow you to redirect your RSS feed off of the Podango feed to a new feed. Instructions will accompany that tool. Also on Monday we will provide you with alternatives for show hosting.

Inactive accounts, those without recent uploads or downloads, may be already been deleted from the system. If you need to contact us, please use info@podango.com.

Again I personally apologize for this notice of caution. We truly appreciate your business.

With Podango possibly going down the tubes, I am now wondering how well Talkshoe.com is doing. I host two podcasts through Talkshoe.com, one called Perfcast which deals with all things blogging and the other, WordPress Weekly which is a WordPress centric podcast.

At this point, I pretty much have a vested interest in Talkshoe.com surviving. There are many things which can be improved upon within Talkshoe but overall, I’ve been very happy using the service for my podcasting needs. My worry is, Talkshoe.com does not offer any type of (PRO) account or package. In terms of monetizing, I know they have a few Google ads on the Talkshoe site and you can also pay to be featured on the front page but that is about it. I also know based on what a representative of Talkshoe told me, they make money whenever someone calls into the site.

I’d hate to see Talkshoe fall from the wayside and honestly, I’m willing to shell out some cash to continue using Talkshoe if the opportunity pops up. I hope that Dave Nelson who is the CEO of Talkshoe takes this opportunity depending on the final outcome of Podango to come out and make an announcement regarding the future of Talkshoe and put the minds of its users at ease. Hell, it would also be a nice time for Dave to capitalize on the fall of Podango to see if he can’t reel in some users from that service to Talkshoe.

2008: The Year In Review

Posted on 28 December 2008 by Dr. Robert White

[ad#camstudioim]
2008 is coming to an end. As we prepare to begin another new year, I thought I’d take a few minutes and look back at this past year and what has went on at The NMP Network during 2008.

The year started as most do, we had a mild winter in Indiana and thanks to that, I was able to be around the studio more during this winter than I am most of the time.

Just two months prior, in November 2007, we changed the format and name of our Friday Night Show from So You Want To Host Your Own Talkcast to Podcaster Training from Two Beams. The format changed from a Co-Hosted Show to a Segmented Show, offering more than just straight out training from the hosts. In February 2008, Tommy Vallier, my Co-Host from the beginning, left the show to pursue other interests. I looked around for another Co-Host, however, decided on adding Segment Hosts instead.

I brought on Jeff Chandler from the WordPress Weekly show to do a segment on WordPress each week and then Josh Budde followed along a short time later with his segment outlining changes at Talkshoe and his podcasts.

Patti Serrano and myself had been hosting a show called Business 101 on Monday Nights and when Patti needed to free up her Monday Nights for other business, we moved Business 101 to Friday Nights as a Segment on the Podcaster Training show and renamed it The Business of Podcasting.

In March 2008, I shortened the name from Podcaster Training from Two Beams to simply Podcaster Training. I also ceased using the domain http://www.twobeams.com for the show and dedicated http://www.podcastertraining.com as the shows new web site. I restructured the blog at http://www.nmpnetwork.com as the new portal for all the shows I currently produce as well as past shows that are no longer in production. The shorter name became the brand for yet another format change to the show.

I was approached by Jeff Chandler one evening about becoming a Co-Host on the show. We discussed it and he had several great ideas, most of which are still implemented today. Jeff co-hosted the show for about two months at which time he re-started WordPress Weekly again and took it out of hiatus. Because his new show was at the same time on Friday Nights as Podcaster Training, he decided to leave his co-hosting position and send in a pre-recorded segment each week. I was happy to see him restart WordPress Weekly and have supported him in his transition. He continues to send in his segments every week and they are a welcome part of the show!

In August 2008, I decided to leave Talkshoe and go to a straight video format. Talkshoe was having some severe technical issues with their audio, or at least on my shows, at the time. Something in the VOIP setup on their end was making for some terrible feedback and echoing for the listeners, making my shows unbearable to listen to. I left, reluctantly, and began a journey to different video streaming services only to be met with different type of issues, mainly the services being too unstable for an hour long show like mine.

Near the end of September 2008, I returned to Talkshoe, after confirming that the audio issues I was experiencing when I left, had been addressed. It appeared they had been addressed, so I came back and started back on an audio only platform with Talkshoe again. Even though there are still some little issues here and there, they haven’t been severe enough to prevent my shows from being produced and listened to.

Since my return to Talkshoe in September, my number of listeners have been growing. Thanks to this growth is in part of bringing on another Segment Host, Michelle Trent, who joined us in November 2008 and does a segment on Social Media News and Twitter. Michelle has several follow her to the show each week and we are happy that she was able to join us with her segment.

Well, that pretty much brings us up to date. The NMP Network added a few new sites over 2008 including a new Membership Site for PLR and MRR products using the http://www.twobeams.com domain. We also revamped the http://www.podcastertraining.com site to add more training for site visitors. Lastly, for those who want the more personal approach to training, http://www.learntopodcast.com was added to give just that!

That wraps up 2008: A Year In Review. We are looking forward to a great 2009 and hope you are too! Happy New Year Everyone from The NMP Network!

How To Power Smile

Posted on 28 December 2008 by Marcella Glenn

Power smiling is a crack of the lips. I’m in control, type smile. It’s not bold, but free, honest.

Most of us have meetings. Naturally, there are hundreds of other things we could be doing. The late comers can tense-up the atmosphere. Instead of allowing the pressure to give you
stomach problems, headaches, and a host of other ailments, power smile.

Take a breath, let it out slowly, and curve the lips. Let that bad energy go. Do it a second time, if needed.

Add your opinion, input, in the meeting. This, too, encourages others to get a second burst of energy.

The momentum is changed. You power smile, and your meeting is over.

If you’re at any place, uncomfortable, smile. Focus on the smile, and the uneasiness will disappear. Most likely, others will follow your lead.

In conclusion, a power smile opens the door for chatting, kills the tension, friendships can be formed, and business contacts made.

WordPress 2.8 Survey – The development team has released a new survey for the next version of WordPress dubbed 2.8. The survey contains a list of features that not only didn’t make it into version 2.7, but also ideas which were originally slated for 2.8. The problem however is that the team doesn’t know what should be worked on and what should be pushed off. Thats where the survey comes in. The survey will close on December 31, 2008 so be sure to cast your vote and take part in the development process! – http://wordpress.org/development/

WordCamp Columbus – Over the weekend, I discovered that their will be a WordCamp event held in my own backyard down in Columbus Ohio on the weekend of May 16th, 2009. WordCamps are conference like events centered all around WordPress. The event will be taking place at the Columbus State community College with admission currently being free but as the event draws near, their may be an admission fee of $20.00 applied. So far, Noel Jackson along with Nick Momrik two employees of Automattic are tentatively scheduled to appear. Oh, and yours truly will be their as well. – http://weblogtoolscollection.com/archives/2008/12/25/wordcamp-columbus-is-on/

WordPress Forum User Guide- A few days ago, I published a WordPress.org forum user guide on WeblogToolsCollection.com. The purpose of the guide is to help steer end users in the right direction as it pertains to using the forums. While the forum is heavily used by the community, there are a few tricks you can do to speed up your support process. Check out the guide for more information. -http://weblogtoolscollection.com/archives/2008/12/24/wordpress-forum-user-guide/

Plugin Of The Week – Widget Context – Widget Context is a plugin that allows you to assign widgets to appear on certain parts of your blog. For example, you can configure the plugin to only display the recent comments widget to show up on your homepage and nowhere else. Or, you can assign a widget to display in multiple places but keep it from displaying in others. In short, this plugin provides an entirely new level of customization options for your blog. Look for functionality similar to what this plugin provides to be coming down the pike in a future version of WordPress. – http://konstruktors.com/blog/wordpress/842-wordpress-gpl-widget-context-plugin/#more-842

Making Money with Articles: The Importance of Picking a Catchy URL

Posted on 28 December 2008 by Dr. Robert White

[ad#camstudioim]
One of the first things you will need to do, or possibly last if you need some inspiration, after you pick your niche topic is to pick a catchy URL. You want it to be one that will stand out and that will be easy to remember for those who plan on being return visitors.

To get some ideas and inspiration, take a look at the various keywords that you have singled out for your niche to see if any of those have a catchy ring. You want it to be kind of “used car salesman” sounding, rather than something that is boring or does not have an original sound to it. For example, if your niche is “blah”, you could try “MegaBlah”, “Blah4u”, “HouseofBlah”, or “BlahKingdom”. These will all be original, explain what you niche is, and, most importantly, will be easy to remember.

How easy your URL is to remember is the most important so that your visitors will not have any trouble returning and clicking on more affiliate links!
