Interview with Patrick O’Keefe, Author of Managing Online Forums

Posted on 02 September 2008 by Dr. Robert White

[ad#gotomypc]

Our Special Guest tonight is Patrick O’Keefe, the author of Managing Online Forums and we talked about different methods of forum usage, software platforms and how to moderate a forum properly. Jeff was not at his PC, so I read most of his questions from our Show Notes to allow Jeff to interact with our guest too.

We had several questions from the chat room and even after the interview, Patrick hung around to continue answering questions on the chat room.

I announced early in the show that the Business 101 Segment is now a permanent fixture on the show. Also, Patti’s Broadcasting Tips are being replaced with the Business 101 Segment and Patti will now focus on the Business of Podcasting each week during this segment.

Some new changes to our format also include that the web site for Business 101, http://www.business101chat.com, will be discontinued as of November when it expires. Before then, I will move the blog posts to this site under it’s new category when I integrate the Business 101 here.

Since the Business 101 Segment is now a permanent part of our show, you will not find it separated out as I have done in the past. It will continue to be on the Podcaster Training RSS Feed from this show onwards now.

Listen to this great interview and show in the player below! See you next week!

Tip #71: Consider speaking to lenders face-to-face if you have a bad credit score

Posted on 02 September 2008 by NMP Network Administrator

[ad]
If you apply for a loan over the telephone or online, your credit score will count the most, because that is all the lender will likely look at before getting back to you with a quote. If you have bad credit but still need a loan, meeting with a lender face to face is your best bet because an actual meeting allows a lender to get an impression of you, and allows you to explain the problems you have had in the past and the things you are doing now to make yourself a better credit risk.

When you meet worth a lender in person, you force them to stop looking at you as a credit score number and make them look at you as an entire person. This can be a huge advantage for you (especially if you are personable) and can help you get the loan your credit score does not completely qualify you for.
