the-move-from-audio-to-video-is-it-the-right-move

Ok, so you’ve been podcasting for some time now and you have just discovered the new world of video. Now, you have a decision to make…or do you? You went out and purchased your webcam, got the special software to do the fancy things on the screen, got everything setup and running, and then you think…what do I do now? Do I go ahead and keep podcasting adn start producing live video shows too? Can I do this both at the same time, thus saving me some time and energy in the process? All great questions.

Let’s assume for a minute that you aren’t just producing podcasts (like pre-recorded) but are doing live podcasting (like on Talkshoe or BlogTalkRadio). This brings up another question…do you have enough resource on your computer to handle two live streams at the same time! If you cannot answer yes, that you have enough resources, then you probably won’t be able to make it happen without a lot of technical glitches appearing on your shows.

On the other hand, if you can make it happen, are you prepared to promote your new live video show, just like you had to with your original podcasts, in order to build up and audience there too?

What if you really want to go video, but then just go back to podcasting your audio. Will your listeners from your live podcasts follow you to video? Some will, but for the most part, in my experience, most won’t. If your listeners are like most, they won’t even respond to inquiries that you put out asking them what they think! I don’t believe this is becasue they just don’t like you, it’s more that they don’t want to get involved. That seems to be the mentality of most of today’s listeners.

So, all you can do at this point, is follow your own heart. A friend of mine told me that recently when I was contemplating this very issue. In fact, that’s what prompted this blog post!

So, to sum it up, if you feel that moving to video is the right move for you, and you are prepared to basically start over again, then like Nike says, Just Do It! (I think they still say that)

As for my contemplation, I will be making a descision before Friday this week! Watch this space for details!
